Booking and availability

Rides are booked by phone, text message or WhatsApp. A ride is confirmed only when we confirm it to you by phone, text message or WhatsApp; this website does not book rides. Availability depends on the time and your area. Our hours for calls, text messages and WhatsApp are shown on this website; rides can be scheduled for any time, including outside those hours.

Estimates and fares

Prices on this website, including the online estimate, are estimates. We confirm the final price before your ride.

• Minimum fare: US$25.
• US$3 per mile.
• Airport rides (IAH and Hobby): by the mile plus a US$10 airport fee, from US$50.
• No tolls and no night, weekend or holiday surcharges are added.

Fares may change; the price we confirm for your ride is the one that applies.

Payment

Payment is always upfront, before the ride starts.

• Debit and credit cards: paid by phone when you book.
• Zelle: sent before the ride.
• Cash: accepted subject to availability; mention it when you book.

Never send card numbers by chat or text message. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers.

Pickup and waiting

Please be ready at the agreed pickup time and place. On round trips and trips with stops, the first 20 minutes of waiting are free; after that, waiting costs US$0.50 per minute.

Cancellations and no-shows

• Cancel at least 1 hour before pickup, or before your ride is on its way: card payments are refunded in full.
• If your ride is already on its way or at your pickup location, a cancellation fee based on the trip applies (for example, the distance already traveled). We tell you the amount and refund the rest.
• If you are not at the pickup and we cannot reach you, the ride may be cancelled as a no-show and a fee based on the trip applies.

Refunds

Card refunds go back to the same card through Stripe and usually take 5 to 10 business days. Cash is paid at pickup, so if you cancel before pickup there is nothing to refund.

Service area

We serve Houston, Katy, Cypress, Galleria/Uptown, Downtown and the IAH and Hobby airports. Richmond, Sugar Land, Spring, The Woodlands and other Texas cities, such as Austin or Dallas, are served subject to availability: please contact us.

Safety and conduct

We may refuse or end a ride when there is a safety risk, illegal activity or abusive behavior.

Delays

We do our best to be on time, but we are not responsible for delays caused by traffic, weather, road closures or other events outside our control.

Maps and the online estimate

The online estimate uses Google Maps features and content. Their use is subject to the Google Maps/Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.

Changes, law and contact

Information we collect

• Contact details: name, phone number and email.
• Trip details: pickup and destination addresses, dates, times and notes.
• Calls and messages: phone calls, WhatsApp, text messages and the website chat. Calls may be recorded and transcribed.
• Payment details: card payments are processed by Stripe; we only see limited data such as the last four digits. Zelle payments show us the sender name and amount.
• Newsletter: if you subscribe on this website, your name, email, phone (optional) and language, to send you news and promotions from Lone Star Taxi. You can unsubscribe at any time.
• Website data: the addresses you type in the online estimate, basic device and usage data, and cookies if you accept them.

How we use it

• To arrange, confirm and complete your rides and contact you about them.
• To take payments and handle refunds and disputes.
• For quality, safety and fraud prevention.
• To send news and promotions, only if you subscribed.
• To improve our service and, with your consent where required, to measure our ads.

Call recordings

Calls to our phone line may be recorded and transcribed to confirm trip details, resolve disputes and improve our service. Recordings are kept for a limited time and then deleted.

Text messages (SMS)

If you give us your number, we may text you about your ride: confirmations, updates and payment links. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

WhatsApp

When you message us on WhatsApp, your messages go through WhatsApp, a Meta service. WhatsApp's privacy policy also applies to your use of WhatsApp.

Who we share it with

We share only what is needed with service providers that help us run the business: payments (Stripe), phone and messaging, maps (Google Maps Platform) and website hosting. We may also share information when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety. We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Maps, cookies and analytics

The online estimate uses Google Maps Platform: the addresses you type are sent to Google to find places and routes, under the Google Privacy Policy. The site stores your language and theme on your device. If we use analytics or advertising tools (for example from Google or Meta), they may use cookies to measure visits and ad results; we ask for consent where required, and you can block cookies in your browser.

Retention and security

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above and for legal, tax and dispute reasons, and then delete it. We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is completely secure.

Your choices and data deletion

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or to stop messages and newsletters, by writing to hello@lonestar.taxi, calling or texting (832) 487-3863 or messaging us on WhatsApp. We reply within 30 days. We may keep some records when the law requires it.

Children

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
